The shade of this handsome lamp is comprised of rectangular shaped sections of green glass, with a pomegranate pattern in yellow around the center. This floral motif is continued in the dual bands of fine vertical lines down the handle, which branch off into curly-cues like tendrils of vines. Single tendrils then flow onto the base where they turn into leaves, with their tips delicately draped over the sloping sides between larger leaves pointing in the opposite direction. Curved feet support the lamp, maintaining the sense the entire piece is a rare product of nature. By producing exquisite designs, such as this lovely lamp, Tiffany became a household name and the most fashionable decorator in New York during the latter half of the 19th Century.
