The artist has captured this turkey buzzard in the moment of relaxation. His beautiful wings are gently folded around his upper body. The artist in depicting the skin and solemn expression of the turkey buzzard’s head has paid special attention. The applied head is centered between the front two attached tripods. The front two attached tripods depict the turkey's standing legs with elaborate designs. The third, a tail-like support, is at the rear. Encircling the upper portion of the pear-shaped jar is a delicately painted, wide band containing jaguars. This pear-shaped jar has been created in the white slipped tradition. The heavy white base coat was used as a surface for the brightly painted ritual imagery. It makes the turkey buzzard and the jaguar theme stand out in a spectacular manner that is distinctive and easy to read. It seems clear that this was truly the purposeful intent of the artist who created this jar and that it was meant to serve as a vehicle of communication among people who shared the same culture.
