Highly stylized in shape, this plump woman would have served as a container for a tomb offering of food or drink. Her rounded base was probably intended to fit comfortably into the dirt floor of the tomb as she kept vigil through eternity. Her obvious sexuality evokes the sensuous joys of life in this world, and the hope for rebirth and renewal in the next. Though her features are serene, even contemplative, she appears to be very old and very wise, possessed of secrets that are more ancient than time itself.
