The curving hips and diadem suggest that this is an Astarte fertility figure such as are more commonly found in clay. The little goddess is sketched in the most rudimentary fashion, yet her charms are evident. She opens her arms as if to embrace us. We are drawn in by her mystery, wondering who might have offered her to win favor from the goddess herself and whether this wish was granted so long ago.
