This charming seated male has a number of distinguishing characteristics. Perhaps the most striking is his 'bushy' hair overhanging on the sides and cropped short in the front and rear. The textured effect of hair is created by vertical striations in the Nayarit style. A delightful touch is the cascade of hair flowing down his back, beginning at the level of the large earshools, and most likely representative of the hairstyle of men at the time of the vessel's manufacture. His face is elongated with his jaw wider than the forehead, which is rectangular. Long rope-like arms rest comfortable over the knees. The protruding of his back may be due to a hunchback, or simply the way he is seated. Most interesting is the very contemplative expression on his face, with the thick eyelids half-shut and lips slightly parted. He seems to be in a dreamy mood, pondering life's mysteries in a state of perfect serenity.
