This ancient figure, emerging out of the surface of the clay, seems at one with the bottle he sits on. Centuries ago, he was created as a grave offering to pass eternity with the deceased. It is his expression that intrigues us most: wide-eyed and awestruck, as if witness to momentous events. Is this his reaction to the mysteries of the underworld, or simply his wonder at the strange new world in which he now finds himself?
