Though anatomically simple in design, this beautiful figure stands erect, prepared for a ceremonial sacrifice. Completely naked, he stands in readiness for the ultimate offering to the Gods. In one hand he holds the head of a man and in the other, he carries an axe, raised high above his head. Though he is undoubtedly performing a great ritual, his face seems complacent, his eyes are closed and his mouth equally shows no emotion. Even though we are given few clues as to the exact act which is occurring or about to occur before us, there is no body paint and no jewelry adorning this person, we realize a presence and simple beauty which emanates from this wondrous sculpture, which passes throughout time without change yet full of history and full of life.
