To heat a vessel, a pot stand such as this one was required. However, this one is particularly special due to the use of stylized caryatides. These ideas came from the Greek designs found on a similar functioning vessel. Alternating naked men and women, where the idea of Atlas can be seen, holds the ring base. Though completely monochrome in color, its beauty is seen by its uniqueness. The top of the stand is completely surrounded by stylized birds that are all looking upwards into the sky. These applied figures express the true ingenuity and artistic capabilities that this person had, and it is such unique pieces that remain in our memories and in our minds forever.
