The rounded body of this large tripod slants inward at the shoulder from which emerges a long, slender flaring neck with thickened rim. Long, hollow legs with slits and rattles support the vessel. Each leg has an applied alligator. The alligators wear easpools and their mouths point upward. A circle design band encircles the shoulder where it joins the neck. The surface of the upper body is a lustrous burnished orange while the legs and alligators are left matte with traces of white pigment. This vessel may have served an important function during shaman rituals. The artistic ingenuity and beautiful shape of this vessel makes it a masterpiece of well-developed skill and remarkable creativity.
