This vessel was at one point used to serve. Though it is small in capacity, its design and ornamentation was carefully executed, making it a highly ornamental piece. The rattles within the legs of the jaguar at the bottom of the vessel, add to the overall presence that the piece creates. The polychrome decoration combines with geometric patterning to produce a brilliant effect with the colors and the design. In connection with that, the fierceness of the Jaguar's bite and the dark penetrating eyes add excitement and creativity to the vessel. The vessel itself is supported on the back of the animal with added support from the tail. Together, the vessel works harmoniously to create a beautiful and functional work of art.
