Decorated in beautiful body tattoos and an elaborate ceremonial headdress, this person radiates a certain magical charm. The expression is gentle and full of wonder. Perhaps the artist is revealing to us the harmonious oneness with society that this culture once shared among each other. The dark-brown slipped vessel has a full, voluptuous shape with an ornate geometric design encircling the upper portion of the vessel. Although the designs may be decorative to our eyes, we can assume that the designs were symbolic and rich with ceremonial importance to the eyes of the ancient inhabitants of Costa Rica. The tripod legs of the vessel contain rattles. We can only imagine what this vessel once held. The Ancient World of rituals and rites long forgotten are embedded in this magnificent vessel.
