This vessel is a unique blend of artistic imagination and the surrounding environment of the jungles in Costa Rica. This work of art expresses the symbolic nature of the Costa Ricans heart felt sentiments. The patterns throughout the whole of the piece are tribal designs that perhaps were used as camouflage against predators. The vessel rest upon a tripod base made up of three bird-like claws. The main sculpted piece is of a buzzard. The head protrudes from the vessel in a three dimensional style. The beak is very pronounced and is painted in brown. It is partially opened and may represent speech. What should be the buzzard’s tail on the other end of the vessel is represented by a smaller version of the buzzard's face. It is highly stylized and painted in red to highlight the feathers and beak.
