This uniquely shaped vessel displays the potter's artistry of utmost expertise in design and in function. This artifact is a compilation of one or two animals. The face is elongated like that of a turtle or frog. The mouth is smiling and partially opened. Two painted circles represent the nose. The head of this creature has a wonderful shape that closely resembles our cross. This "cross" is also found on the sides of the vessel on what is considered the two pairs of legs. The center of the body has an opening and a few inches from that another spout-like opening has been made. These features create a vessel that is quite functional in design. The contents can easily pour out of the spout by using the head like a handle. The adorable amphibious body rests on top of a four legs. This work of art is proof of the sophisticated culture of the Costa Ricans in which we are dealing with. L.25.5cm(10IN)
