Like many flasks of this period from Syria, the body is constructed from two circles and seperately made handles and neck . The moulded design features a rosette in the center encircled by patterns, lines and script. Pilgrim-flask, buff earthenware with moulded and incisd decoration. Round body, flattened on the sides and with recessed central walls, short cylindrical neck on top and a pair of small handles. The flat sides are decorated with a beautifully written thuluth inscription, surrounding a central medallion which has a blossoming rosette. Syria or Palestine, 8th – 12th century.
