Bowl, lustre-painted ware. Composite white fritware, decorated with brownish-yellow lustre. It has straight flaring walls, flat base and rests on a low foot-ring. Inside at the base there is a young female figure holding a goblet in her left hand and a bottle in the right one; there are four horsemen on the cavetto, separated by chequered decorated trees. The rim carries an inscription reserved in white over lustre ground. The exterior is decorated with series of the conventional “chain” motif. Iran, probably Kashan, late 12th – early 13th century.

Comparative material: a very similar female figure appears at the base of a lustre painted bowl which is in the Tareq Rajab Museum, Kuwait, cf. Fehérvári, 2000, cat.no.141, p.117.
