Helena was the first wife of Constantius I and mother of Constantine the Great. Although exiled from the court of her husband prior to his remarriage, her son restored her to public life after the death of his father. Credited with finding the relics of the True Cross, she is venerated as a saint in both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches.
