Cylindrical pyxis made of ivory and decorated by medieval-inspired figurative scenes of painted armed knights in procession, underneath decorated by the crest of the city of Ghent. Inside the lid, conversation scene between the holy figure of a bearded man being tempted by the graces of a beautifully clad damsel (temptations of Saint Anthony?)
Flat lid attached to the main body by hinges of gilded copper alloy.
