This broad legged seated male is portrayed wearing a colourful patterned turban on his wide head. The face is modelled relatively simply in a doll-like manner with slightly raised eyes outlined in black. The nose is small, and the mouth is slightly parted and painted red. On his earlobes are yellow painted ear ornaments, yellow paint in this instance is believed to represent gold. The shoulders and legs are painted with an interlocking mat pattern. This figure would have been cast in a mould and is of hollow construction. The painted details may represent either clothing, tottooing or body painting. This form of stylized seated figure continues a long tradition which goes back to the earlier Galo polychrome figures. The sensitive use of colour and decoration, serve to make this piece one of great artistic expression as well as a survivor of a lost people.
