This beautiful vessel demonstrates both the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the artist while at the same time maintaining the simple style which is popular in this area. Central in the design is the sculpted head of a turkey which is surrounded by a beautiful painted geometric design on the vessel. The earthenware maintains a simple elegance which is enhanced by hand painted decoration in delicate earth tones. The high neck is balanced by the flared foot at the base. The design on the vessel has been done within registers to promote a more organized pattern. The actual artistry within these registers is a combination of geometric patterns and zoomorphic designs, creating a unique fluidity within the piece and demonstrating the multi-facets of art.
