This sculpture appears to represent the three-headed figure of Parvati standing on top of the dead body of her son Ganesha, having been killed by Shiva in his divine fury. This sculpture depicts the moment in which an enraged Parvati realises of her son’s death and decides to destroy the entire Creation. The identification of the figures of Ganesha and Parvati are strongly suggested here by the figures’ bodily features - notably by Ganesha’s recognisable elephant head, and Parvati’s three heads and six arms, one of which grips a dagger/sword above her head.
