The "Bactrian princesses" are small composite figures consisting of a number of detachable parts. The statuettes are usually small and are generally dressed in the kaunakes, a Sumerian tufted garment. The question posed by this figure is who is depicts. The female is presented seated and wearing a full hood which is unusual and rare for depictions of ‘Bactrian princesses’. It has been suggested that these female figures could either represent princesses or goddesses, which would account for the gentle and serene facial expression of this seated woman.
