A beautiful example of Safavid / Qajar Bronze door knocker. The decoration of the plate consists of foliage and calligraphy. While the decoration of the knocker consists of vegetal motifs. The knocker is poly-lobed. This door knocker constitutes a fine example of the artistic forms of expressions in Persia under the Safavid and Qajar dynasties. It exemplifies splendidly the refinement reached in an-iconic decoration, in obedience to the fundamental islamic precept prohibiting the representation of animals and humans.
