This superb Chinese libation cast glass cup has been finely manufactured in the shape of a hollow vessel held between the wings of a dragon, with a ring handle in the back. The vessel is decorated with waves motifs in relief and the rim of the cup is encircled by a low relief pattern of rectangular spirals. Almost identical types were made in other materials during the Ming/ Qing Dynasty, notably jade. This piece is a playful and outstanding re-interpretation of archaic traditional models.
