A libation cast glass cup, finely decorated with a phoenix. Fènghuáng are mythological birds found in Sinospheric mythology that reign over all other birds. The fenghuang is believed to have originated in the sun and its different body part symbolise the celestial bodies. . The vessel is decorated with waves motifs in relief and the rim of the cup is encircled by a low relief pattern of rectangular spirals. Almost identical types were made also in other materials during the Ming/ Qing Dynasty, notably jade.
