The underside of the monkey's arched body and extended forearms skillfully form the hollow mouthpiece of the flute. The monkey's wide-eyed gaze stares out, his ears most certainly attuned to the lyrical notes emanating from this distinctive instrument. A carved tail with handsome geometric patterns meanders down the length of the bone, curving sensuously around the flute's note holes.
