Gold signet featuring at the triangular extremities two romping quadrupeds, possibly does, separated by finely drilled lines. In the two broad central lines an Old Arabian inscription consisting of four characters each line reading ' Arzan, of the (clan) Kharif'. The personal name 'Arzan' occurs in Sabaean and in turn Kharif is attested both in Safaitic (in northern Arabia) and in Sabaean and Hadramatic also. The letter forms with lack of serifs would be consistent with a date in the 1st century BC.
