The bull, the stud, the lover, the conqueror, the poet, the hero, our image of everything a man should be in the painting “Virility”. Yet this extraordinary figure seduces us much like a woman, with its alluring eyes and coquettish body, complete with garter belt around its shapely thigh. Perhaps, then we are witness to the ying and yang of a human, the characteristic male and female attributes of which each of us is comprised, no matter our sexual identity. It is thought-provoking imagery that confronts us in this painting, for as we examine this complex figure we also examine ourselves, perhaps discovering portions of the ying and yang hidden deep within.
