The shaman as shape-shifter comes to life in the painting “Sorcerer I”. Here we observe his mystical form take shape as a human, comprised of myriad shapes and colors, each bit a portion of the unworldly. In his presence we see a sublime animal resting his forelegs upon the lap of the shaman, whose hand reaches out in an act of spiritual communion. Meanwhile, a bird hovers in the sky above, perhaps waiting its turn to confer with the age-old sorcerer. This trio of kindred spirits touches our heart and soul as we experience their unique relationship, a bond formed with the strings of the very essence of life itself.
