Standing on very sturdy legs, with wide hips, large flat feet and holding a thick studded spear this figure is poised to strike a blow at his enemy. As protective armor he wears a heavy barrel-like covering that extends only to his thigh and reaches to the chin in a high rounded collar. Curiously, this armor leaves the neck exposed, as well as the limbs. His bell-shaped helmet has a small extension at the top like a handle. His facial features are very nicely created, with intense appliquéd eyes, slim sharp nose and full lips. Vertical black lines on his cheeks indicate war paint or scarification. Though most likely intended to represent the paragon Jalisco warrior, the fine artistry and masterly touches of this handsome figure is what is most striking to our modern eyes.
