Following the exile of Herod Archelaus in 6 A.D., the land of Judea was annexed to the roman province of Syria. This territory now came under the domination of a roman administration based at Caesarea. The administration w as headed by a procurator, who w as responsible to the Roman governor of the province of Syria. Antonius Felix, one of these procurators of Judea, issued coins during only two of the nine years of his procuratorship. This handsome coin features a depiction of a six-branched palm tree bearing two bunches of grapes, and an ins6ription.
