Shaped by hand, adorned with decorative ribbing, this ancient vessel has four holes for suspension from a cord. This suggests that it may have been left hanging as a votive offering at an ancient altar or temple. It perhaps contained a gift of oil, honey or milk, meant to win the favor of the gods. Across the barriers of time, we find we have much in common with the person who left this simple pot as a gift when the world was a newer place.
