Made out a brown earthenware and painted red and beige, this charming ocarina, or whistle is a pleasure to look at as well as to play. Its shape is very simple, like a summer squash, where the tip is the mouthpiece. There are only two holes that change the sound, limiting its musical range, but making it no less attractive. When held in the proper way, as if to play the instrument, a distinct decorative pattern can be seen. The red and beige paint interchange, while a series of incised circles mark the borders, making this piece even more fascinating and a pleasure to view and even use.
