Similar in style to Djennenke statues this extraordinary sculpture depicts a male reclining on his left elbow. His tubular neck is very long, the curved disk-shaped beard is in Djennenke style, while his head is very pointed with some evidence of incising. The arms are long in proportion to the body, with the hands nicely clasped. He wears bracelets, armbands, and what appears to be an amulet or even dagger on the upper part of the left arm. Another realistic detail is the loincloth visible at the back and draped beautifully between his legs. Two aspects of this figure are most remarkable--the comfortable, nonchalant pose, and the serene expression on the face. His eyes seem to be watching and yet closed at the same time. His mouth could either be closed in contemplative silence, or open in wonder. The great charm of this sculpture is its very human character, and the immense personality of this gentleman who is perhaps watching the sky for the appearance of his gods.
