This powerful Khosi shows a male and female figure placed back to back, sharing a high headdress with a crest and wrapped around the waist by a skirt of cloth strips. The female is naked from the waist up, her hands are pressed together at the knuckles in the middle of the chest. Her facial scarification is represented by two vertical lines under each eye. The male's body posture is basically the same as the female's body, each have protruding stomachs, narrow arms and thick legs. “Power bundles,” containing various ingredients from nature serving as protective devices, are attached to the man's upper arms. These bundles are a distinctive feature of some Yaka statues, such as the Khosi, which are highly revered and kept in a hut standing within the enclosure of the chief's house.
