Pinecone-form finial atop a domed gilt-painted cobalt-ground lid monogrammed 'N', atop a conforming gilt-highlighted collar, the oviform body painted with a continuous scene of Napoleon and his troops on the battlefield, over a stepped socle above a spreading circular gilt-highlighted foot, raised overall on a square plinth.
