This porcelain vase comes from the late Qing Dynasty in China. Although Ming Dynasty porcelain was popular for its iconic blue and white style, the Qing Dynasty saw great advancements in the craft with the emergence of a range of opaque overglaze enamel colours. During this time, the production of coloured glazes flourished, which led to craftsmen creating much more dynamic scenes and landscapes with a variety of colours. Much porcelain retained the white background as was seen in the Ming Dynasty, however the overlaid depictions became brighter and more colourful, which can be seen here.
