An exceptional example of Safavid or Qajar dagger. The curved blade is realised in steel, double-edged and with center reinforcement rib.
The handle is made from horn decorated with puntiform metal inlays and two golden roundel on the obverse. The revers has two silver roundels with Arabic calligraphic decoration. The edge on the handle is decorated with a band with filigree circular motifs enclosed by single tresses.
The case is realised in leather, with a reinforced tip representing a bud. The decoration of the case consists of steel and gold inlays separated by fine vegetal motifs realised in steel creating rhomboidal partitions. Inside each partition and along the border of the case there are Arabic calligraphic decorations, probably from the Quran.
