Centuries ago some unknown potter shaped this splendid abstract figure with deft hands. Though, he perhaps made others like it in his lifetime, the creative energy of the artist guided his fingers. Sometime afterwards a mourner at a funeral, perhaps a woman not unlike this, placed the figure in a tomb to share eternity with the dead. With that gesture she expressed her grief, her love and her respect for the deceased. Now, in a vastly different world, this elegant piece remains as the only clue to those very human emotions. More than mere sculpture, it embodies the timeless energy that is mankind.
