Although small, this delicate figure is highly detailed and full of character. With her peplos tight against her body giving her form, she stands as if in mid-action, enabled by her dress being above the knee, and with one leg drawn to the side and her opposite arm raised slightly. The shape of the palm of her hand is such that it is highly likely that she once held a now-missing object. Across her back is slung a quiver, thus identifying her as a huntress, most likely the goddess Artemis. Her gaze is cast into the distance, maybe at whatever she was in the process of hunting. The detailing of her face is beautiful and clear and adds great animation to the object. It could be that this was once used as a votive offering to the gods, either in thanks or in supplication.
