This fairly realistic human figure with voluptuously inflated body and expressive posture is an intermediate in style between the realistic bi- and trichrome ceramic sculptures. Standing upright with her hands on her sides, the figure proudly presents herself. Her large, round belly protrudes out and it is decorated with incised patterns in a cross shape. Her breasts and the bellybutton are also emphasized to show her voluptuous femininity and life-giving motherhood. Her large legs supporting her with a perfect balance, she radiates with the feeling of fecundity like the great fertility goddesses from the Ancient old world. Her round face is sculpted with beautiful arching eyebrows and a slightly open mouth that create a distinct character representing the cherished concept of fertility and birth, it is possible that the sculpture was a part of Costa Rican fertility ritual. This delicate sculpture delights our eyes and also leads us to understand that the magic of birth was cherished and appreciated across all cultures and time.
