This gourd shaped vessel rests on a flared pedestal foot that is decorated in simple registers and geometric patterns. Along the neck of the vessel, a similar motif is designed, yet more elaborate in its construction. The main body of the vessel contains a beautiful depiction of a coiled serpent. Two serpents are depicted, both with a form of plumage on the head and prominent fangs just underneath the forked tongue. The almond-shaped eyes however, have a human characteristic to them. Together with the polychrome colors, a beautiful combination is created. Added to this, the symbolism within the design, and together, they create not only a work of art, but also a brief look into the ancient past.
