Wide bands of black and red radiate from the upper chest of the figure and on the back, leaving much of the area free of design. The slightly flared neck has a thick rim and vertical lines alternating red and black. Staring downwards the charming head has a band of black, like a mask, over the eyes. Its facial features are very finely modeled, delicate and expressive. The arms are akimbo, hands rest on the knees, and the very flexible legs twist into a tight U-shape as if to frame the prominent penis. Such refined use of color and form distinguishes Galo polychrome, utilized in vessels that may have had a ritual function as well as being special household items for the elite.
