Seated in a position similar to cross-legged, this figure embodies the stance of a person of great importance and the beautiful designs on the body emphasize this. The overall structure of the figure is rather angular, yet the warm, burnished reds color of the earthenware rounds and smoothes the figure creating a uniform work of art. The face of the figure shows a contemplative state, with the eyes cast downward and the mouth almost closed. The decorations that are used show careful geometric lines brought together to create wonderful patterns, emphasized by a darker color. Together with the colors, and shapes, the artist has successfully recreated a vision of the past, enabling us to see and to begin to understand the past.
