This male figure is an extremely interesting piece, because it is not purely a sculptural figure, but a vessel. The body of the figure is the vessel itself and the head is the lid that protects the contents inside the vessel. The vessel is created out of red earthenware and then painted a warm orange hue. The decoration that is throughout the whole piece is polychrome geometric patterning. The arms are placed carefully on the stomach while the legs are planted firmly on the ground. The head however, is a fascinating addition to this piece. Due to the fact that the neck does not fit perfectly into the body, a wonderful motion is created with the head as it may move from side to side. This in turn gives the piece a realistic style, bringing the work to life. The face is simple and expressive, which is accentuated by the head's movement. This type of originality is a wonderful part of the art found in the Central American regions, demonstrate a culture that had no boundaries and with an artistic style all of its own.
