Shallow vessels normally held the function of offering devices, which was an extremely important ritual in day-to-day life. The bowl is raised on three monkey caryatids. The black and red colors in the decoration, simple earth tones, allow the design that the artist had done to take precedence. The interior and exterior rim of the bowl have been carefully painted. The ritual of the offering was a task of great importance, and the vessels that were a part of such a passage, shared equal importance within the ceremony.
