Whenever we today are confronted by the mysterious, the unexpected or the unexplained, we tend to seek logical explanantions. In ancient Mesoamerica, such phenomena were accepted as part of daily life, as integral forces in the universe. This double-headed dog vessel seems to exemplify that approach to the world: It is at once recognizable, composed of familiar elements, and yet somehow is beyond the realm of reason.
