This magnificent and statuesque woman sits proudly and contentedly, confidently holding her child on her arm. Her scarred arms, placed in a relaxed position in front of her, give her stability and a matron formality about her. She shows the signs of happiness in her face with partially closed eyes and a mouth that has been opened gently to reveal her small teeth. The child that she is carrying is delicately portrayed, clutching the mother for reassurance, while closing its eyes, as if to fall gently to sleep. The head of the child is protected carefully with a blanket or cloth, while the rest of the body is nude. Such a blissful scene is a rare beauty to behold, the relationship between mother and child, which brings out the maternal instinct in us all.
