This remarkable sculpture invites the viewer into a moment of intimacy. But who are the couple? Husband and wife, brother and sister, or perhaps a representation of Siamese twins? Back to back, their heads merge into one, yet separate in their different perspectives. Her hair cascades down the sides of her face. His hair winds around the top of his head. The distinctly masculine and feminine traits are depicted with such delightful sensitivity.
The profound feeling of love between two people is wonderfully evident. It is as if they are together not only in life, but beyond for eternity. There is also a broader sense of the dual aspects of nature- earth and sky, fire and water; the elements beautifully joined in harmony. To create such a piece the artist must have had great feeling, and has left this superb sculpture as a testimony of the bonds between man and woman.
