Rarely does a complex piece survive the years and remain whole and in such remarkable condition such as this vessel, and we are indeed lucky to be a part of the history. The vessel itself is covered with beautiful geometric polychrome patterns that have been painted onto a soft beige earthenware base. The base of the vessel is separated from the actual vessel yet is supported by four caryatid figures. Though caryatides are commonly female, the artist has chosen male figures to support the vessel. Each character is identical, both in design and in decoration. One hand supports the vessel, while the other is placed on the hip. The base itself is also decorated in polychrome registers, assimilating into the entire piece. With this in mind, the artist has brought together a complex piece and in return creating a treasure work of art.
