These figures most probably played an important function during fertility rituals. She is a masterpiece of balance, tranquility and warmth. She softly rests her arms at her tummy using her hands to frame the interesting symbol surrounding her prominent navel. The talented artist has sculpted such round, beautiful hips and shoulders. They perfectly balance the piece. The expression on her face is inviting and warm. Warmth also radiates from the glowing burnished orange paint that covers her body. Intricate black paint designs emphasize certain areas of her body and may be a language within itself. She certainly is a woman of great importance. Her bracelets and earspools reveal to us that she is honored in her community. There is a special energy of peace and beauty that mystifies us and brings us to greater appreciation and adoration of the ladies who once lived in this ancient sophisticated culture.
